Born on April 17, 1959 in Berdychiv, Zhytomyr oblast. Graduated from secondary school with a gold medal. Worked as a fitter-toolmaker at the Berdychiv Machine Tool Plant 'Komsomolets'. In 1977, entered the Faculty of International Relations and International Law, Taras Shevchenko Naional University of Kyiv. Graduated from the University in 1982. |

From 1982 to 1985 — lecturer of the Department of Propaganda and Cultural Work among the Masses at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Committee of the Ukrainian Komsomol. In 1985-1990, worked in the Central Committee of the Ukrainian Komsomol - as Head of the Ideological Department, among other positions. From 1990 to 1994 — Head, Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commission on Youth Affairs. From July 1994 to December 1995 — First Assistant and Head of the Assistant and Referent Group under the President of Ukraine. In December 1995, publicly expressed his disagreement with the style of work and the system of informing the head of state rooted in the Administration of the President of Ukraine, and left the post of his own volition. From January 1996 to June 1997 headed the Expert Council of the Ukrainian Centre for Economic & Political Studies. From June 1997 to October 29, 1999 — Deputy Chairman of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine. Simultaneously headed the UCEPS Expert Council. From December 1997 — Head of the Ukrainian part of the Strategic Group for Ukraine-Russia relations. For his weighty personal contribution to the strengthening of national security of Ukraine, in 1998 the President and the Minister of Defence of Ukraine awarded him personal firearms. Died on October 29, 1999. Survived by two sons. On October 24, 2000, the Founding Board adopted a decision to name the Ukrainian Centre for Economic & Political Studies after Olexander Razumkov. | |
