Spheres of Activity
Razumkov Centre is a non-profit public organisation that carries out-its studies in the following areas: domestic policy; social and economic development of Ukraine; energy policy; international economy; foreign policy; national security and defence; military reform; international and regional security; peacekeeping.
Principles
Razumkov Centre activity is based upon the following principles: realism and pragmatism; high quality analysis and comprehensive forecast; active political influence; and responsiveness to the clientele.
Mission
Razumkov Centre formulates policy choices based on the promotion and protection of Ukraine’s national interests. Our experts share the following values: democracy and rule of law; protection of human rights and freedoms; responsiveness of the state to the public; proactive state policy; free mass media; active involvement of political parties and non-governmental organisations in policy debates; democratic civilian control over the military; free market economy; protection of environment; friendly relations among the states; threat reduction, confidence building, and conflict prevention; compliance with domestic and international law; and predictability and reliability of Ukraine in its relations with the partners.
The Founder - Olexander Razumkov
The Centre was founded in 1994 by Olexander Ràzumkov, former Deputy Secretary, National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine. Under his leadership the Centre issued 26 analytical reports and organised 30 Round-tables, seminars, and conferences. Most of the reports have attracted the attention of the state leadership, domestic and the foreign experts, and mass media. O. Razumkov was a man of integrity, strategic vision, initiative, and action. Regretfully, he died on October 29, 1999 at the age of 40, full of energy and promising ideas. Razumkov’s team continues the deeds of its leader. Our experts have left their state service at the National Security and Defence Council Staff to strengthen the Centre and widen its activity. Businessmen and mass media that share Mr. Razumkov’s views provide support for his Centre.
Staff
Razumkov Centre employs experts in economics, history, political science, law, philosophy, sociology, international relations, energy, security, and defence. There are 30 people working at the Centre on a permanent basis. Our experts received their education both in Ukraine and abroad. They hold Ph.D. degrees and have experience working for the government and parliament. Razumkov Centre also enlists high quality experts to conduct research on a contract basis.
Razumkov Centre Location and Facilities
The Razumkov Centre office is located in downtown Kyiv. It is fully equipped with modern means of communication, computer and research facilities. The experts have access to information networks. The Centre conducts public opinion polls in all 27 regions of Ukraine.
Goals
Razumkov Centre goals are:

to develop models of social and economic development of Ukraine and the mechanisms for the realisation of these models;

to assist in building constructive co-operation between the different branches of state power;

to assist in reforming Ukraine’s state military organisation, so that it is effective, sustainable and subject to democratic civilian control;

to improve the relationships among the state authorities, local communities, and the public;

to facilitate a well-informed, substantiated, and effective decision-making process within the government;

to establish good working relationships with leading foreign think tanks and non-governmental organisations;

to provide unbiased, independent information to the public.

Razumkov Centre Activities
Razumkov Centre provides the following analytical materials: monitoring of national security threats; political analysis and strategic forecasts; analytical reports, bulletins, and articles; opinion poll results; and timely commentary for mass media on important current issues. The Centre displays its materials on the Internet. We also organise seminars, conferences, workshops, and round-tables.
