The announced social programs can be curbed after the next parliamentary elections. This is the opinion expressed by Pavlo Rozenko, the leading expert of the Razumkov Centre, reports the online newspaper “Obozrevatel”. The expert pointed out that the strategy of closing down popular social programmes is quite frequently used in Ukraine. “Additional social obligations taken up before the parliamentary elections will be partially fulfilled, and after the election Ukraine will allegedly experience another financial and economic crisis, as a result of which the government will claim they need to fight the crisis by tightening belts”, the expert assumed. “This scheme is familiar: during a two-year period the people are driven beyond the poverty line, and then, before the elections, they are given some pittance to make them vote, and then we again, return to where we have been”, Mr. Rozenko summed up. |
